The question remains: is this a guerrilla marketing strategy by Mercadona, or something truly created independently by Tiktokers? 🤔

Are you taking a pineapple in your cart at Mercadona?
The trend started in Spain, but has already caused a stir on social media in Portugal. What Tiktokers are promoting is simple: if you are looking for a new partner, you should go to Mercadona and put a pineapple in your cart with the crown facing down, then go to the wine aisle. If another cart bumps into yours, there is potential for a relationship.
Out of nowhere, the number of people at Mercadona increases and the pineapple sales area becomes emptier. ⚠️
We do not know if this action was part of a marketing strategy by Mercadona. Still, it's a great example of how, with a viral post on a topic completely different from Mercadona's core business, it's possible to attract potentially qualified traffic to the store and increase its notoriety 💡.
With brands increasingly closer to consumers and life in society, the demand for up-to-the-minute content and reactions is growing. As a brand, it's essential not only to work on scheduled content, but also to be aware of what's around us💡. Real-time reaction content is a must. Still, it's important to emphasize that real-time marketing is different from spontaneous reaction. Even unscheduled content requires strategic guidance and must follow the brand's rhetorical guidelines set out in the brand book ✅.
